Aggregate site analytics
MAG counts page loads, section views, video play button presses, project links and download clicks solely to understand and improve this website. Each accepted action immediately increases a daily counter. Basic analytics store only the UTC date, action type, public item and total count. Basic-only requests do not retain IP addresses, browser identifiers, visit times, location, device details, referring websites or individual activity logs. Basic counts do not measure unique people.
Use the Basic stats: on/off button in the footer to opt out at any time, free of charge, without affecting the site. Detailed analytics are optional and off until you explicitly choose Allow details in the separate prompt. Your choice is remembered on this browser for 180 days using local storage. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control also turn analytics off. Previously declined analytics choices are respected. Basic-only analytics create no tracking cookies or visitor identifiers.
Cloudflare hosts the site and the aggregate database for MAG. The owner sees totals after signing in. Daily totals are kept for a rolling 30-day reporting window; older totals are removed on the next analytics request or dashboard load. Earlier opt-in activity records are converted into daily totals and removed from the active database during migration. Cloudflare recovery backups may temporarily retain deleted data according to its backup retention.
Counts may miss blocked requests and include repeated clicks or automated traffic. Page loads are not unique visitors. Video plays count presses of MAG’s play button, not watch time; download clicks do not confirm an install.
Optional detailed analytics
If you choose Allow details, MAG additionally stores your IP address, visit time, approximate city/region/country, browser family, device category, action and public item, and referring website hostname. Random browser and visit identifiers estimate consenting browsers and visits; these are not names or verified people. No full referrer URL, precise location, raw user agent, credentials or authentication tokens are stored. Cloudflare processes this information for MAG, and only the signed-in owner can view it.
Use Detailed analytics settings in the footer and choose No thanks to withdraw consent. This stops future detailed collection and removes local identifiers; it leaves basic counts enabled unless you also opt out of Basic stats. Browser identifiers expire after 30 days; visit identifiers reset after 30 minutes of inactivity. The detailed consent choice is remembered for 180 days. Earlier analytics choices are not treated as consent for this new detailed feature. Privacy browser signals keep all analytics off. Detailed records are removed after 30 days when the site next receives analytics activity or the owner opens the dashboard. Cloudflare recovery backups may retain deleted records for their backup period. Previously removed individual records cannot be reconstructed from basic totals.
Other services
GitHub login uses necessary secure session cookies. Login credentials are kept separate from analytics. Embedded YouTube videos and external GitHub/YouTube links use those services, which have their own privacy policies. Cloudflare necessarily processes request information, including IP addresses, to deliver and protect the site; that is separate from these aggregate analytics.
